My Home Iran
The tragedy of flight 752 moved us all around the world. But this tragedy hit the Canadian Iranian community the hardest. Students, professionals and families on board in a second were no more.
With so much politics and tension around this tragedy, it’s easy to get distracted pointing fingers rather than grieving and remembering those who we lost. We started a project that focuses on telling the untold stories of those who came to Canada to build better lives. Students, parents, friends lost on that flight may never tell their story. That’s why we wanted to tell our story of why we left our home in the hopes of shining light on the similar stories of our lost ones.
The photos feature an Iranian Canadian student in Toronto. The writings on her face describe the experiences leading many young Iranian students to flee their homes in the hopes of finding better futures elsewhere.
No politics, no fighting, just telling our stories.
