For Self Discovery and Exploration
I remember when I first started making this playlist a little over three years ago: I was a sophomore in high school, I had just gotten my license, and I knew that things were starting to change in my life. I didn’t know it at the time, but everything that would happen to me from that time forward would absolutely be the most formative times in my life. Perhaps it means something that the times I associate with that period of my life coincided with the creation of this playlist and the beginnings of my photography collection to capture this essence that a lot of us are fortunate enough to relate to. This playlist is about the newfound freedom associated with self-discovery and exploration that comes before college and the worries of real adulthood. These songs are the songs I imagine would play in the background of slow-motion montages, evoking the titular “best years of my life” memories of dumb love flings, the emergence of lifelong friendships, fresh picnics, cheesy coming-of-age movies, windowless car rides, sleepless nights of laughter and joy- whatever you think of to associate this feeling of absolute formation and reminiscence with. I hope you enjoy.
