Dawn
dawn
like the seaside
deep when it crashes
salt entering
the holes upon the sand
sanctuaries
for the shells
castles
for the crabs
i dig down into the ground
toes tearing threads
in my comforter
head in the pillow
just like
dew on your hair
the smell of shampoo
or peach fuzz skin
how you can lapse and fall
deep into a memory
longing for something
you’ve never tasted
the water comes upon me
your eyes roll back
floating away
and this haven shutters
lacking without structure
the lack
i fall asleep to
ready for me
when i wake up
open the curtains
and watch the ocean
swallowing the dawn
in its greedy mouth
