Comparison
If I were awarded a dime every time I looked in the mirror at myself and said, "I like the way my _____ looks today, but i would look so much better if _____ went away." I would be a billionaire. If I were awarded a penny every time I looked at the person next to me and thought to myself, "There is no way that people chose the right person to be standing in a room next to _____." I would be a millionaire. But if I were to receive $100 every time I looked in a mirror, or stood in a room and told myself that I was proud of who I am and where I have gotten myself in this life... I would have nothing.
Remember this-- You were made your own special person. You were thought out, each piece of your being designed to fit who God precisely planned for you to be. The way that your smile curves when you are happy, your "dumbo ears", how crooked your teeth are, the color of your hair, the length of your torso and the width of your waist.... All sketched out in God's big agenda.
You are an Angel, as hard as it is to see. The way you look at yourself will never change that... because God has a plan for you and me. And I know how hard it is to stop the comparison from person to person, for I can not stop to look at my own self and pick out what I love. But have you ever stopped to think about what God sees in you? He sees our big eyes that widen everyday with new concepts learned, He sees the way the light reflects off of our skin, He sees the beautiful footprints that are left in the sand and He is able to stand above us proud of the work He has done to make each of our individual bodies "individual".
We must take the time to stop and look at the bigger picture, see what God sees and trust that this is who you were meant to be.
"Comparison is the thief of joy."
