Over: A Break Up Song

Essentially ‘Over’ is an 80s/early 90s inspired rnb break up song written in the form of a conversation where both people are reminiscing on their times together and asking themselves if there was anything more they could have done to make their relationship work. 

For me personally, I’ve always been inspired and fascinated by songs that spoke about and highlighted the vulnerability within human emotion through experiences like heartbreak, love and loss because they really make people feel as if they’re not alone in their experiences, as if the lyrics where written specifically for them. 

This song has a really special place in my heart because to me it really emulates the music that I love to listen to. Taking inspiration from artists such as Anita Baker, Sade, Brandy, Aaliyah and Lauryn Hill really helped to bring ‘over’ to life as a modern day ballad with a twist.
