Mourning the Decade

So here it is.

For months we’ve been thinking about the end of the decade. The Tik Toks that are like ~ do you want to say goodbye to your childhood? ~ then show you a ton of Disney clips, the constant reminders on social media—we’ve been anticipating it for months now. But now, it’s really happening. Ten years of our lives, of our childhoods are coming to a close. I was seven when this decade started… weird.

I made this playlist to mourn the decade. It’s not a compilation of the decades best songs or anything, it’s just a few songs that help me accept endings. They remind me of all the really joyful times I had, the really tough ones, and the ones that were just really, really important. They’re also just really good, if I do say so myself.

Listen to this playlist (if you want to) to mull things over. Think of all the good this decade has done for you, then think of all the good the 20s will be.

Endings are really, really, really sad. I hate them. But they don’t have to be, and I’m trying to be more ok with it. Remember that every stage in life—every year, every season—it all is purposeful. They’re all just important as the next and the one before, and they’ll all be special. Just try not to move too fast.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year/New Decade. I love you all UA.
