Serenity

s e r e n i t y 

The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.

The inspiration for this shoot initially came from a photo I saw of a minimalistic bedroom encompassing some greenery and stacked records. I immediately imagined a young teenage girl like me, laying on a white blanketed bed, in a very calm and content state. With that, the thought of serenity came to mind. To me, serenity means being alone, but not lonely; in no rush to go anywhere, and accepting one’s self in their own beauty. Instead of recreating that exact picture I found, I decided to make the theme a little more dreamy and soft by switching up materials with the lens and adding props like roses and a mirror. In these photos are my beautiful friends, Mae, Michelle, and Angel modelling what I envision as ‘serenity’. They know how to take a moment to appreciate life and beauty, and that’s truly admirable. Especially at such a busy age of 16, it either seems like nothing matters, or everything matters so much to the point of breaking. But taking that time to have peace of mind, is something truly necessary to lead a beautiful life.
